For the first few episodes of my Humans of eCash space, I would end each interview by asking my guests to choose a song to play us out. I would tell them it didn’t have to be their favorite song, just a song they liked and wanted to share.

I stopped doing it because I thought it was a bit too gimmicky for an interview, but now I’m hoping it isn’t too gimmicky for a blog.

My goal is to get as many people to pay for my content as possible, so I thought I’d try out some new items on the menu to see what people like.

While no one asked me to share a song, I happened to be going through my old iPod playlist tonight when I came across a song I used to listen to a lot back when I still listened to music.

(Coincidentally, after a long period of not listening to music at all, I’ve found myself listening to it a lot more lately. My only guess is I’m all podcasted out at this point.)

Anyway, behind the paywall you will find the song I wanted to share for this post, along with a short blurb about where I heard it first, and what it reminds me of.

Hope you enjoy, and maybe even discover something new…

The first time I heard this song was in the film Mulholland Drive directed by David Lynch. I would never call myself a huge David Lynch fan, but I enjoyed that particular movie a great deal. It’s been years since I watched it, but I remember I liked the vibe and mood of it, and the same also goes for this song.

Anyway, not too long after the whole quitting my job and getting back on my feet again saga I wrote about here and here, I ended up moving into this 1-bedroom condo in the heart of Los Angeles’s Koreatown that I rented from this old Japanese woman and her stepson.

It was definitely an upgrade from my Culver City studio, and the first time in my life where I had a place that I wasn’t too embarrassed to invite people over, which included a young woman who would eventually become my wife.

I remember playing this song for her the third time she ever came over. The two of us were sitting on the floor of my living room, I told her to close her eyes, and then I cupped my hands behind her ears like funnels, and told her to listen…

“Llorando” by Rebekah Del Rio

Lyrics

Yo estaba bien por un tiempo
Volviendo a sonreír
Luego anoche te vi
Tu mano me tocó
Y el saludo de tu voz
Te hablé muy bien y tú
Sin saber que he estado
Llorando por tu amor
Llorando por tu amor

Luego de tu adiós sentí todo mi dolor
Sola y llorando
Llorando
Llorando
Llorando
No es fácil de entender
Que al verte otra vez
Yo esté llorando

Yo que pensé que te olvidé
Pero es verdad, es la verdad
Que te quiero aún más
Mucho más que ayer
Dime tú, ¿qué puedo hacer?

No me quieres ya
Y siempre estaré
Llorando por tu amor
Llorando por tu amor

Tu amor se llevó
Todo mi corazón
Y quedó llorando
Llorando
Llorando
Llorando
Llorando
Llorando
Por tu amor
